Meet Graham and Glenys Mansfield

We both come from farming backgrounds, so it's kind of in our blood, and a wonderful way of life for our two sons, their kids, and ourselves.  Graham has a love and way with animals, and can calm an animal so easily - a passion that our sons inherited.  Both, our veterinarian son Jason (owner of Greater Whitsunday Vet Services), and Shaun a skilled tradesman and loving father of Summer and Carter (whom enjoy and participate in the family farm).

We started in cattle with a single Simmental heifer given to us by Gleny’s dad, but because of the lay of the land turned to Brahmans.  We became involved in the Mackay Region’s agritourism business development program a few years ago.  The Program assisted us to see real value in our innovative ideas and the value of diversification on our property to provide several income streams.  Pigs were introduced to the property and after much research by Graham on the many breeds he landed on Berkshire and Large blacks, both English heritage breeds.  These breeds are rich in flavour and are often referred to as the Wagyu of Pork.  More recently we have started introducing Duroc pigs into our breeding plan. This breed was developed in the United States and is reddish-brown in colour.

We are always trying to improve the quality of our pork by experimenting with other heritage breeds, however we are proud to say that today we breed really good pork, and is an arm of our business called ‘Mansfield Park Pork.’

Even more exciting, with our accreditation, means we can take our Mansfield Park Pork products to local markets such as at Seaforth, Bowen, and the Mackay Farmer’s Markets.  For full detail about our products visit our Mansfield Park Pork page here.

We’ve always tried different things over the years, me, Glenys, my time at Sarina Sugar Shed, a fantastic Agritourism product or the fact that Graham and I have successfully run the Sarina Motor Inn for many years, which if you have ever visited the restaurant - serves our very own Mansfield Park Pork.

Thirty-eight years later and we are still innovating and keeping on top of things, and learning new ideas from our amazing farming and tourism networks.  Our belief is that opportunity is only possible by being connected and part of these organisations – because without them, then you are on a road by yourself.  More than 20 years ago we had two farm stay cottages on our property, welcoming guests from all around the world.  The dream for us has always been the day we can open our farm gate back up and invite people in to see what we are doing, so they can learn and grow.  At the end of the day, it’s about leaving a legacy for our kids, and their kid’s kids.
